Review by hotel critic
Monks Ballyvaughan was a delightful find during my Christmas stay. the warm welcome received from the staff was exceptional, making our visit truly memorable. the cozy shared lounge and serene terrace were perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the rugged Burren landscapes. the proximity to Aillwee Cave added a touch of adventure to our trip, offering a glimpse into Ireland's mysterious underground world. The accommodation with its comfortable double rooms, some boasting sea views, felt like a home away from home. the attention to detail in the room decor, along with the thoughtful provision of a tea/coffee maker and electric kettle, ensured we were always comfortable and well-equipped. The on-site restaurant offered a delicious dining experience, although we did miss having fresh seafood options. However, the hearty breakfast spread more than made up for it, with a special mention to the comforting porridge that hit just the right spot. the bar provided a lively atmosphere, perfect for mingling with other guests and sharing travel stories. The convenience of free private parking and the proximity to Shannon Airport made our arrival and departure seamless. It was reassuring to know that tours and tickets could be easily arranged through the helpful staff, allowing us to make the most of our time exploring the enchanting surroundings. Overall, Monks Ballyvaughan provided a cozy and welcoming base for our Christmas getaway, blending comfort, convenience, and a touch of Irish hospitality. I look forward to returning in the future, perhaps with a small group of fellow landscape enthusiasts, to continue our exploration of the stunning natural beauty that this region has to offer.
